Children’s Author - Illustrator
About
Hayley is an author-illustrator of children's literature and a passionate book designer. She lives in rural North Wales with her partner, two young children and her three dogs.
Hayley is an advocate for including individuals with learning disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds in the literacy world; she herself was diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult, something her school had failed to identify.

"I feel like my life started when I had that diagnosis; I finally understood myself! It wasn't that I couldn't do it; I just needed to do it in a different way."

This initiated Hayley's journey into book illustration and design. At 31, she studied an Illustration degree at Wrexham University, specialising in children's books. She graduated with a First Class Honours and then continued her studies onto a Masters, where she learnt and developed her book-creation skills, further kindling her passion for creating.

"I've realised that passions are not just something you enjoy; they involve suffering, pushing yourself until you cannot give any more, but carrying on and creating something wonderful. It's taken everything you have, but you do it anyway."

The latest trends and techniques inspire Hayley's work as a professional practitioner; she uses comedic storytelling at the foundation of her creative process, aiming to keep her audience engaged and foster their imaginations. Hayley strives to motivate children and young people, encouraging them to be curious, express pride in themselves, dream big,
and never give up.
